Surface Monitoring Slide

The surface monitoring slide is simply an agar coated plastic Paddle which is attached to the cap of a shatter-proof, optically clear, colorless plastic vial. To sample a surface, remove the cap/paddle assembly from the vial. Holding cap in hand, press the surface of the paddle gently onto the surface to be tested (paddle will flex to right angles with a gentle pushing motion).

Solar Biologicals Inc. FP-400 surface contact monitoring paddles are coated on both sides with a general purpose agar medium, containing two peptones, which will support the growth of a wide variety of organisms. It is suitable for the cultivation both of aerobes and anaerobes, When supplemented with 0.7 g lecithin and 5 g Polysorbate (Tween 80) per litre of Tryptone Soya Agar, the medium can be used as Microbial Content Test Agar for testing quaternary ammonium compounds⁷.
